Manufacturing

Our process

Six stages, all under one roof in Locust, North Carolina. Nothing is drop-shipped and nothing is finished off-site.

Hand tools, clamps, and an oak board on a workbench

1 · Lumber selection

Boards are chosen by hand for grain and colour match, then stickered and left to acclimate to shop humidity before anything is cut.

2 · Milling

Stock is jointed, planed, and dimensioned in sequence so parts from the same piece come from adjacent boards.

3 · Joinery

Tables and chairs are mortise-and-tenon; case goods use dadoed carcasses and hand-cut or machine-cut dovetail drawer boxes. Beds use steel threaded inserts so they can be taken apart repeatedly.

4 · Upholstery

Frames are corner-blocked and doweled, then sprung, padded, and covered on site. Covers are cut so patterns run true across seat and back.

5 · Finishing

Surfaces are sanded through progressive grits and finished with hard-wax oil or a low-VOC topcoat. Each finish is sampled against the order before it goes on the piece.

6 · Inspection and packing

Every piece is assembled, measured against the drawing, and checked for wobble, drawer fit, and finish defects before it is blanket-wrapped, crated where needed, and released to freight.

Made to order versus in stock

  • In-stock pieces are already built and finished; they leave the shop in 2–7 business days.
  • Made-to-order pieces are built after your order is confirmed, typically in 4–6 weeks depending on finish and cover.
  • Custom dimensions and finishes outside the listed options are quoted individually — call or email us with your sizes.
